Create A Layered Card With TLC Dies And Digital Images Video Tutorial

By | 12/13/2020

Many of us are spending the holiday season without our usual family gatherings.  I’ve been creating special cards for all the family and friends that I will not get to see in person.

I also have a video tutorial to show you how to use digital images to create your cards.  This will show you how to insert them, how to move them around the page, how to resize them, how to layer them to create scenes, and how to print them.

The cards for today features a fantastic mailbox digital image from TLC Designs.  I also used 2 dies from different die sets to add some extra special touches!

This image seems especially poignant this year with everything going on.

This mailbox image is part of TLC Designs Snow Family Fun Mail digital stamp set.  I really love this image.  I added a few dried grass stems to the base and some snowbanks using a die from the  Land and Sea Dies .  This is one of my favorite sets and it is getting used in a lot of scene cards these days!

I added a light blue sky and then die cut the whole piece with the Scalloped Rectangle Garden die set, using the outer scalloped frame.  I added a navy mat under this and layered it on top of a piece of patterned paper from the Snow Family Fun digital paper set.

You can see all the details on this video:

You can see from this close up, how great the snowbanks look!  I had to die cut only once on white card stock and I got two pieces with a stitched edge detail that I could layer for the snow banks.  I added these to my mailbox piece and then die cut the rectangle.

The sentiment is stamped in black hybrid ink and is from the Celebrate sentiment stamp set from TLC Designs.  I love this set because it has such a great variety of sentiments for many occasions in a variety of sizes and fonts.  It also comes with a couple little stamps that will add a nice little touch to a card or a gift tag as well.  I always love when stamp sets have those extra little filler stamps so you can fill in an empty space or create a special background or piece for your card or project.

I created a second card so that I could create a how to video to show you how to use the digital images:  how to insert them into a Word document, how to move them around the page, how to layer digital stamps to create scenes, and how to resize the images.

This is a very similar card that I layered some extra digital images on to create more of a scene.  You will see me do all this in the video.  I actually put the bird on a wobble to add a touch of whimsy!
