Calling all traveler’s notebook newbies! I share how I go about creating my traveler’s notebook layouts with some tools that are quick and easy to create from your stash. A little of that scrap paper goes a long way here!
I created a traveler’s notebook sketch template with a marker and a ruler to illustrate the basic rectangular shape of the page layout. At some point, I will create this in Canva and make it pretty!
I also used a couple of pieces of 6×6″ paper from my stash to create templates of various sizes. I tend to use 3×4, 2×2, 3×3 and 2×3″ photos in my traveler’s notebooks. So up just cut a bunch of squares of varying sizes and some rectangles. I also cut some strips from scrap paper to use in place of what might be a sentiment strip or a label of some type. I made a box to represent journaling and one to show the title placement.
I simply use the little bits of patterned paper to lay out on my traveler’s notebook template to decide where I want to put my actual elements when I create my page.
I actually like the planning part of a project almost as much as creating the actual project itself.

I have to say that I’m really enjoying using this kind of memory keeping to document my days and my projects. It’s fun to be able to add some stamping, stenciling, or my own art sometimes. I also love the opportunity it gives me to completely use up the scrapbook kit I purchase to be used for the month. The real added delight is all the stuff that I pull from my stash to use on my traveler’s notebook layouts that I already have that coordinates with the colors of the kit I’m using for the month.
I’m not creating works of art on my pages…yet. I am however, totally enjoying the process!!
