Make The Cards Challenge: A Sketch Challenge

By | 03/01/2021

I can’t believe it is the sixth Make The Cards Challenge already!  It seems like we just started last week!

I’m loving this challenge because is something new every week.  Last week we did a color challenge and the week before it was a theme challenge.  This week, we have a sketch challenge!

Make the Cards Challenge #6

I was excited about this sketch when I saw it.  I’m so in the mood to do a floral card.  Florals are my favorite cards to create!

I just got a couple of new stamp sets from Taylored Expressions.  They just came out with their Field Notes 2 Kit and I loved the first one so much that I ordered the second one.  I then saw the Bursting Blooms set and decided to add that to my cart as well. That’s the one I’m using today!

I decided to try it two ways.  My favorite card ended up being the card that I created with my Copics!

I love this when I finished with it.  How pretty is this little stem of blooms?

I actually managed to leave white space in the petals!!  Win for me!

Copic Combinations:

Floral: RV 95, 93, 91, 34 Y 11, 17

Leaves: G 29, YG 63, 61

Drop Shadow: BG000

Black Splatter: Catherine Pooler Midnight Ink

Card Recipes:

Card Base: 4-1/4 x 11″, score and fold at 5-1/2″

Pink/Blue: 4-1/8 x 5-3/8

White Panel: 4 x 5-1/4″

My original card was watercolored using my Gansai Tambi Pearl Colors and Starry Colors.  They are sparkly metallics and pearlescent paints that I don’t use enough!

After making the card, I didn’t love it so that was why I created the Copic version which I ended up really loving!

Make the Cards Challenge #6

This is a very soft sparkly card in person.  I left white space on this one too, but I added a gold and blue watercolor wash around the outside of the stem. I’m not sure if that is what I don’t like or whether it is something else.  I may go back in and add some pencil or Copic details and see if I like it better.

It just doesn’t feel finished!
