I LOVE the July challenge at the Challenge YOUrself scrapbook challenge. The challenge is to add stitching to your layout!! You should definitely check out the challenge blog because every design team member added stitching in a different way! I kept mine simple!
I have only tried stitching on my layout once and that was when we did this challenge last year! I decided to do a zig zag border around my edges and around several layers.
I have fallen in love with making all kinds of crochet bags, so I wanted to do a layout about that. The To The Market Designer Series Paper from Stampin’ Up! had two sheets of paper with market bags all over them. That paper totally inspired my layout.
I pulled out three patterns that all had the Pumpkin Pie or Garden Green color to use as my background. I added an Acorn 12 x 12″ card stock from my stash and a little Espresso as well. I thought those would pull the bag colors in. I fussy cut out the bags and then die cut some left over Garden Green plaid using the Wild Ferns dies and the dies from the Ungrounded Love dies. I wanted some extra leafy greens to tuck around the fussy cuts. I fussy cut some flowers and some of the vegetables from two of the other papers in the pack.
My title is just some puffy alphabet stickers from my stash that coordinated with the green. I kept my journaling simple by using the leftover pieces that I trimmed from the white 12 x12 paper I used on my layout.
The one rule of the challenge is that YOU have to be in the photo. I’m in the bottom right holding up the IPad cover I made myself. I am a terrible selfie taker and every time I snapped the picture the camera went down. I gave up after 3 tries! I got the top of my face so I’m there.
By the way…I’ve made at least 6-10 bags besides the ones in the photos just since January! I’ve also made 4 sweaters, two shawls, and a blanket. I really love crocheting!
