This month’s August Hedgehog Hollow Card Kit was ridiculously cute. It was actual hedgehog stamps with a nod to traveling in London.
I’ve spent the last 2 days practicing coloring in hedgehogs with what few Copic markers that I own. As you will see, it is a technique that I need to continue to practice!!
I used this week’s Paper Craft Crew Challenge sketch for my card layout and this little hedgehog is just too cute!
I love the clean and simple layout of this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch. I modified it a touch to work for my card and because I just LOVE that Doodlebug Design Washi Tape. The washi tape, twine and Studio Katia Iridescent Bubbles are from my stash. The Hedgehog and sentiment are from this month’s Hedgehog Hollow card kit.
I actually have a video unveiling my kit and then making my card that I have added below.
Check out this sketch from Paper Craft Crew…what might you make with this sketch? You must have some great stamps and sentiments that would work well with this layout.
I thought about cutting apart the sentiment so that I was actually using the 3 strips along the side of the image like the sketch called for, but I was in a rush and fussy cutting apart a sentiment is not my favorite thing to do. So I modified the sketch to fit the tools that I was working with.
On the video later, you will notice that I added those black dots around the edge of the die cut rectangle because I did not leave myself enough room to die cut it and I had stamped other images onto the paper. Those were accidents and I made it work by adding a few more to make it look intentional. Nobody would know by looking at the card that those were not part of my card plan.
We would love to have you participate in this week’s sketch challenge. You don’t need a blog. You can post your card on Facebook or Instagram and then use the Linky tool on the Paper Craft Crew site to link your card and play along with us!
Card Recipe:
Keep in mind that I have a very limited number of Copic Markers. I selected my colors after taking a class at My Creative Scoop. Mindy has a list of the basic colors that she recommends to color in almost all the things you might want to color. I used her recommendations because these are super pricey and I already have my Altenew Artist Markers that I love. I just couldn’t resist trying a few Copics to fill in some gaps especially for creating skin tones, hair colors and cute critters.
Copic Marker List:
Body: E00, E11, E13, R20
Hair: E55, E15, E25
Balloon and Land: YR31, Y35, Y13, B0000
Card Base: 5-1/2 x 8-1/2″, score at 4-1/4″
Image is die cut with the Inside-Outside Stitched Rectangles from My Favorite Things
I used Altenew Permanent Black ink to stamp my image. Versa Mark and white embossing powder were used on the sentiment on scrap black card stock.
Embellishments include Beetle Black Swiss Dot washi tape from Doodlebug Designs and Studio Katia Iridescent Bubbles.
I’m delighted you stopped by today! Have a happy day and I hope you find time to craft and relax!
Kim! This is FABULOUS! Would you mind sending me a message to hannah(at)thehedgehoghollow.com? I can’t seem to find your email address on your page.
Thank you!
