The Story of the PCCC#20 and the Happy Birthday Card!

By | 12/17/2012

It’s time for the next Paper Craft Crew Challenge!  I decided to make something that wasn’t a Christmas project today.  It never hurts to build up your birthday card stash either!  I was definitely in a Midnight Muse mood!

I think it’s a lot of fun to search magazines and websites for inspiration!  I have to say that I’m enjoying the sketches that I have been challenging myself with.  It’s forcing me to think of new ways to put the elements of my card together.

My card used two stamp sets, two punches and pearls!  The sentiment is a single stamp called Beautiful Birthday (#125562) and the rest is from the Printed Petals stamp set (#120444).  I used the 1-3/4″ Scallop Circle Punch (#119854) and the Blossom Punch (#125603).  The rest of the card is Whisper White and Midnight Muse!

Here is the sketch I was working from:

While I was at it, I also participated in another sketch challenge with my Scattered Stampers friends!  Since I had these colors and stamps in my head, I created a second card with the same stamp sets and color scheme, but with a very different layout!

scattered sketch 1I added a center piece of Whisper White edged with my Scallop Edge Border Punch (#119882), rhinestones,  and some Midnight Muse Stitched Satin Ribbon (#126847).  This by the way, is the SOFTEST ribbon ever.  It ties beautifully.  Anybody could make a beautiful bow or knot with this ribbon!

For this challenge, I started with this sketch:

When I do a challenge, I love to see the different ways that other people interpret a sketch.  Every sketch has different rules about what can be changed or rotated, but usually you have a lot of creative license!

I hope you enjoyed my creations today!  I’m playing with some fun techniques that I can’t wait to share with you, so make sure you come again soon.  You won’t want to miss my snowy scene!
