Concord & 9th Hits It Out Of The Park With The August Release

By | 08/14/2018

Honestly! I was in a hurry to make my Paper Craft Crew card and get it linked so that I could join my family for a chimnea fire on the deck.
Then I just couldn’t decide which new Concord & 9th new release product to use! I settled on the Thankful Leaves Dies because I wanted to try a Fast Watercolor technique to participate in a challenge at “Just Us Girls”.

Here is my card:

I created the card using this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch:

Stamping Imperfection C9 Thankful Leaves Die

I just love this sketch.  It’s clean and simple and just perfect for this intricate die from Concord & 9th.  I popped the die cut leaf up on some die cut fun foam using two sided sticky sheets to make adhering them easier.

The sentiment came from C9’s Grateful for Everything stamp set, which is part of the same release.  I decided to trim around the big billowy script letters so that the sentiment would not obscure the leaf.

The technique that I used to color the leaf is called Fast Watercoloring which is the challenge at “Just Us Girls” challenge blog this week.  They linked to a Jennifer McQuire video showing this technique.

Essentially, I smooshed ink directly from several Distress Ink cubes onto a piece of watercolor card stock and spritzed it with Sparkle Shimmer mist to activate and mix the colors.  When it dried, I die cut out the leaf.

I love the way this came out and I love how clean and simple the card is.  This is truly a fast way to watercolor.  The spritz did all the work!

That leaf is gorgeous done in this technique! Love how you did the sentiment and the addition of the twine and sequins. Thanks for playing with us at JUGS!
